I recently had an issue with my outboard stuck in reverse - found out the connecting rod has disconnected.
the mechanic reconnected the rod (just above the prop) problem solved.
New problem has arisen however: Going into reverse i hear a rapid metal tapping (almost grinding)
As i continue to move the lever backward, the gear clicks into place and reverse happens.
Forward is fine no issues it works like syncromesh. Two questions:
For reverse am i looking at a cable adjustment here or has the mechanic reattached the connecting rod incorrectly?
Is there any cause for me to discontinue using it in its current condition - will i be damage the gears?
Thanks for any advice
Ted
