Hi I have a Honda 225 with a cranking issue. The issue is intermittent. I checked the harness and plugs. Changed the key switch checked the neutral safety, safety lanyard, swapped the entire and main relay box. Battery wireing is good grounds are clean and tight. When working I have strong cranking. Has anyone experience this.

When it doesn't crank, can you here the relay click when you turn the key to the start position? If not,try shifting into gear and back to neutral, if the cables are getting stiff it may not be settling in neutral properly. If it does click you need to check to see if there is power getting to the solenoid, if it is then it's more than likely worn starter motor brushes.

Thank you for your reply. Yes the starter is fine as well as the neutral safety which jumped out of the loop. Sometimes when the problem is there you can hold the key in crank mode and after a few seconds it cranks delayed like.

Hello. It turns out that I put my meter on the crank wire black white tracer at the engine harness plug I had no voltage and when it worked I was getting low voltage. But it was enough to work . I substitute another wire and problem is gone. I’m replacing the boat side engine harness. Again thank you for your input.
