" Joe,

" Joe,
I heard from some folks of Florida Sportsman chat that you are the man...
Maybe you can help me..
I have a 3hp Johnson (1997) self contain tank.
I was doing some carb cleaning and I found a clip spring in the bottom of the carburetor bowl.
I know where it goes (just above the float arm on the head of a little pin), but I cant figure how it is supposed to be attached and oriented properly.
I figured out what it does, but I cant quite figure out how it attaches properly.
The clip spring is so tiny. It almost looks like tiny paper clip that someone twited 90 degrees on one side.
It runs fine, but it just wont idle for more than 30 seconds without dieing (or me choking it before it dies).
My theory is that when the motor runs it getts the vacum that sucks the gas going really well. It is filling the bowl faster than it can burn the gas. Since the little spring pin isnt in place it has no way of disengaging the fuel.
Thanks for your help.. "
