Help with old Johnson 20HP Info

Hi all,

Just purchased what seems to be a 1981 Johnson 20HP (J20CRCIM). I cant seem to find any info or parts schematics for this year online. I read that the motor was only sold in Canada, and in 1985 it was marketed to the US. Wondering if anybody has a good online or PDF parts manual or something! I havnt called my local boat shop regarding any parts, but should I anticipate issues with parts or is this a common thing?

Not to sure the 85 is the same model, and therefore I have no idea if all of those parts are transferable...

I see that on this website the Johnson 20hp J20CRCI (1981) Does Not exist BUT the J20CRC0 (1985) Does.

I Happen to have a 1981 20/25 J20CRCI parts book on hand but am not ready to part with it just yet. Obviously the 1981 Parts Book exists... perhaps it is available via eBay or wherever. The part number of the book itself is #392302.

Yeah, I know, I could scan and print out or email a file but that's a time consuming process... about thirty pages. Hopefully you find the manual already online.

Fortunately I do have a 1985 20/25hp parts book whereas I could have the two books side by side to quick check the interchange between those years. Alas the 1985 model is a completely different animal.... thru hub exhaust setup, different crankcase/block, different pistons etc etc.
 
What is your model number 20BF or 20CR either belgium or canadian derated rope start models I am pretty sure all the 1981 25hp rope start parts are the same. Boatinfo library has a manual you can look at for free.
