Help bf225 top end hesitation

Island runner 31' twin bf225's yesterday hammered the throttles and port engine was at around 5200 rpm and would drop some rpm and get back on it. Engine never reached full rpm on that motor. Any ideas where to look for the issue?

Sounds like a typical high pressure fuel filter replacment is required. Review fuel lines, make sure they are ethanol resistant. Check onboard water seperators. Thank's Martin

great, sounds like a doable job. is there a specific tool or technique i should employ to change it? os it it pretty much straight forward?

cansomebody give me a part number? or a link to the parts schematic so i can order the filters? i have to do a full tune up so might as well change those filters, I have replaced both stern filters and ethanol resistant lines. just need to hcange the high pressure filters on both and that should do it. hopefully

Should be # 34 that you need. I copy and paste the part # into the partspak.com website to check pricing. I found that many of the parts I needed for my 200's were much less expensive from there. You will need to remove the cowlings to get to the hp filter on the vst. Make sure everything is clean and that the o-ring is seated properly. It would be a good idea to start them up with the cowls off to make sure there are no leaks. The cutting out issue you had at high speed sounds like a fuel delivery issue, so you should be on the right track.

Allright, i havent had a chance to work on the HP filters because been tinkerng with my tilt motor on port engine. Came to find out that the main assembly has a needle size hole which causes a huge leak whenever i trim up the engine. I tried jb weld and the pressure ripped a hole through the jb... Will try welding the hole shut. I will take the boat to a welding shop tomorrow so they can examine the metal and see what it is because to me looks a like a porous aluminum or something. If that doesnt fix it then its more than 2 grand to replace the whole unit.. Yikes.... Yes boat was left on the water for months at a time... So salt ate trhough the metal.

If they weld it on the boat, it would be a good idea to disconnect any batteries and maybe the ecm to be safe. The heat may damage the seals when they do it. Most of the parts are cast and can be hard to weld. Cast generally should be heated before welding to help temper the surrounding metal, otherwise you end up with a really hot weld that cools at a different rate than the surrounding metal and it becomes brittle and won't hold together.

Allrighty thanks for the tip, very much appreciated, i had a set of ethanol resistant hoses installed and changed the racors and still no cigar. Will move to the high pressure filter as soon as possible and report findings.
