I have an Gen VI 502 and the block is beyond repair. I have located a Gen V 454. I'm pretty sure the crank and rods will interchange. The Cam and lifters out of the 502 have less than 50 hours. Will the 502 cam and lifters work on the gen V 454?? Looking for most practical way to rebuild engine. 502 parts are not cheap. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Ha ha ha if you can find a way to own a boat for cheap, let us all in on it!!!!

The most practical thing is to get a remanufactured long block. There is no way on earth that you can rebuild an engine yourself for less money. Plus, you get a warranty.
Believe me, tried it too many times and always spend way more time and money than if I had just bought one and been done with it. Sorry for your misfortune, but if you are looking for rebuilding advice, this is the best you will get.

ditto o2batsea... unless you want the experience of doing the rebuild. I've done more than one project in my life where I was willing to pay for the joy of doing it. Most recently a vintage Penn conventional fishing reel, where 2 parts cost more than the cost of an almost new condition one... Then again that was pennies compared to an engine rebuild.

Totally agree. Lots of rebuilders out there competing with each other that keeps the prices down.

Competition and capitalism; it's the American way!
