Fouled plugs

Hi All, I have a 5.8L Cobra with 4160 Holley and pertronix ignitor upgade. I am using motorcraft ASF3C spark plugs with a .030" gap but they foul during low speed operation. I am thinking of switching to Champion plugs but I want to get the correct heat range. One manual recommends RV8C and another RV15YC-4. Any suggestions? Thanks

Not my choice for a carb, but it would seem that you need to lean it out. Is it fouling in the transition range between idle and the mains or is it between the mains and the secondaries?

with that carb if you have bacfired the power valve will be blown also, has this happened and thats why your fouling plugs>? i agree with02bat about the carb, never have liked the holley products on marine.
