flushing Mercury 150 xr2 to improve water flow in engine

Hi,

what is the recommended procedure for flushing out a Mercury 150 xr2. I want to make sure any mud or sand that I might have gotten from being stuck (in the mud and sand) does end up clogging up the motor.

are there any ports on the engine side that can be flushed (with hose, etc) without using the water pump on the engine?

Not really...best to put in a barrel submerged as deep as possible,fill and start and bring RPM up to 1200-1500, Add about 1/4 bottle of (dont laugh till ya try it) Shout laundry cleaner and let run till suds are dirty(has dirty film on bubbles). Drain and flush on muffs.
This was told to me by ole Coonass buddy....
