Filling the VST with fuel after cleaning or replacing

Is it best to just pump the bulb for a while, or can you prime it with the bulb and then turn the motor over without the kill switch engaged to allow the LP pump to do the work? Obviously, I don't want the HP fuel pump running dry. Maybe pull the HP FP fuse?

What is the best way to prime the fuel system?

Just pump the primer bulb a bunch of times, then turn on the key switch to let the fuel pump complete the job of charging the fuel system.
