evn 120hp power loss low speeds

bought used 1987 120hp vro evinrude with new powerhead. smokes at idle almost unresponsive at o-2/3rds throttle than runs excellent rest of way. took to shop n on a dyno there is dead cyl on #3cyl. timing is working , spark is there ,compression excellent just no firing going on at low rpms. 4 omc manichas r scratching their heads. does anyone have familiarity with this. thanks joe

Squirt some fuel in the carb throat for # 3 when it acts up and see what happens.

A broke reed,blown reed block gasket,missing reed block mounting screw, sticking needle in carb can cause this......

the carbs were rebuilt ,then swited with new ones,new plugs n new coils

I experienced this on a similar motor.
The carbs low speed was clogged.
On a different one the stator was bad and needed to be replaced.
On a third the pack was suspect. Replaced and it fixed the problem.
