" I have a 1988 Evin 200. The lower unit clunks while in reverse. I'm pretty sure the reverse gear and clutch dog need replacement, but I wasn't sure if you had to replace all the gears as a set. Any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, Tom. "

"Tom.... You may be lucky (about time?) with this problem. The forward gear and pinion are a set, however the reverse gear may be purchased seperately.... still an outrageous price though.

If a standard rotating gearcase (NOT counter rotating) the original OMC reverse gear number would be 910211 and is superceeded up to 437297.

I have a 1984 Evinrude 150 I'm trying to rebuild the lower unit my reverse gear part# 910211 but the kits I'm finding and parts numbers for my model are not matching to the gears that are actually in the foot? 910211
 
What numbers are stamped on your reverse gear and forward gear.---Is there a number stamped on the driveshaft ?----Is this gearcase a 1984 unit or a newer replacement ?
 
Ok so currently I have these parts
Prop shaft # 395209
Forward gear# 324411
Reverse gear# 91211
I am looking at a kit that will contain these gears
5004216 should be forward and pinion
910994 reverse
 
Here is what you need but no matter who's gears you use it will need reshimmed. Use the standard ratio

Thanks for the info where can I find the specs on shiming the gears? I have a pretty good understanding of shiming it just need the specs on it thanks again
