I have a 87 evinrude 200 loope

I have a 87 evinrude 200 looper that the lower stbd and port bores did not completely clean up. It already has .030 oversise pistons installed and was honed to 3.533(what is the max bore size for a .030 piston). Are the areas that did not clean up critical areas? They are at the very top of the cylinder (the lower ring will not contact it) and just above the intake slots in the bore. You cannot feel a diference in height with you fingernail. I'm trying to go the cheapest route. I will attach photos if possible.

"Round piston in an egg shaped hole = Blow by, if your already .30 over then start hunting a new block, a rebuilt short block for that year model should not be that much"

"The other alternative is to re-sleeve and go back to original pistons and rings. While you're in there, the pictures show some serious scale that needs to be removed. That in part may be responsible for some of the wear -- dues to the slow heat transfer when there are large amounts of wear, there may be excessive cylinder heat."

Could I get a year or 2 of cas

Could I get a year or 2 of casual use out of the motor if I just put it back together? The second compression ring does not touch the area at the top of the piston so i should get good compression? The other area is by the intake ports so I dont think I would get exhaust blow by that would cause carbon buildup. Am I wrong? Would I just loose a little power over time? Would there ever be a catastrophic failure where I would throw a rod or something? It's on a used boat that I would like to run for a while to see if I like it and then I would re-power with a new engine or sell the boat. I would only have about $300 into the engine if I put it back together now.

Weisco makes .060 pistons for your motor. Would .060 clean up the rough areas? I am currently running Weisco .040 pistons on a 1990 XP-200 with no problems.
