Engine won't start

I have a 1984 60hp evinrude lower unit with a 1987 40 hp powerhead. The problem i am having is when you turn the key to start i will not even get voltage to the start lug on the back of the switch. I have replaced the switch with the correct one from marine engine.com, i have replaced the neutral safety switch, new starter solenoid and had thr starter rebuilt, replaced 20amp inline fuse and have ohm'd every wire coming out of the late 70's johnson command center and i am still not getting the solenoid to click. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have 12v at the "B" terminal of the ignition switch when in the "OFF" position?

If so, do you still have 12v at the "B" terminal when in the ON and/or START position?

If so, you should also have 12v at the "S" terminal when in the START position... Do You?

Could it possibly be the rectifier

No.... Think logically. If you have a good battery and it is fully charged, you should have a full 12v at the "B" terminal even when the key is in the START position. You are not getting full voltage to the "B" terminal./

You need to have a helper that understands electricity... you do not seem to understand what I'm asking you. I'm going to back out of here and see if some other member can explain better.

No all i get is .01volts in the start position

Things to check first...................

1 - Make sure the battery is good and is fully charged.
2 - make sure that all cable, wire, and terminal connections are absolutely clean and tight.

That will enable to to have a full 12v at the "B" terminal of the ignition switch which you must have for anything else to work properly.
