engine miss after installing vro to pre mix pump

I have a 98 200 hp johnson that i replaced the vro pump with a stand alone fuel pump. After installing the pump i now have a very noticeable miss at all speeds. This is with the muffs on so i'm reluctant to take it to the lake. I have no idea what I may have done during the install, the bulb pumps up fine, so are there any ideas out there what i need to look at? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I have seen very few successful replacement attempts with these pumps. Had several customers attempt this and then bring motor in as they run lean at WOT, run out of fuel due to check valve failure(rubber disk fails). Most where 150hp and up

well that isn't very encouraging, recon i should put the old pump back on after rebuilding it?
