e90dslseb compression test probable rebuild. SAFE mode activated.

I'm about to pull a compression test. Probably will find ring damage to bottom cylinder. Experienced SAFE mode shut down. Heard some rattling in the cylinder. Will try to isolate the problem. Most of the repair shops in my area are booked. It appears that a diagnostic program for my laptop is available. No doubt the program will be needed. My thoughts are "get a new power head" and address the powerhead, injectors, lower unit while the motor is down. I hate to put money into a motor if it requires a lot of dealer support. Switch brands?

Jack up the hood and park a 90 Tohatsu under it. In my opinion, today's best outboards.
Tohatsu and Honda have been openly sharing technology for decades. Honda and Tohatsu have merged, I'm told. I believe that since 2010, Tohatsu makes ALL small OMC's.....15 horse and down, as well as 30 horse and down Mercs. Tohatsu was founded in 1911 and making outboards 4 years longer than Yamaha.
