Hoping someone can help me.
Honda BAHJ-1400755, with 128 hours. Purchased in 2022 with 28 hours. Has MIL, PGM-FI on console, and oil pressure, overheat lights side mount remote control. After idling for a few minutes, the side mount remote control starts intermittently beeping long beeps and the MIL light comes on. PGM-FI light is off, oil pressure light is on and overheat lights are off when the MIL light is on and it's beeping. I haven't seen the MIL light on or heard beeping, while running at cruising speed. If I turn the engine off and start it back up, the MIL light is off and I don't hear any beeping. If I idle for a while after restart, the MIL turns on and beeping starts again.
I think the power output is down (more throttle required for same MPH), but not sure since it has some growth on the bottom (it's going in for bottom paint next week) and the prop had a ding or three. I replaced the prop (original 15X17, new is 15x15). Top end now 5700 at 34 MPH, 4400 only gives me 23 MPH. Original prop was about 5200 top end and 4400 would give me about 30 MPH. I switched prop size due to dealers suggestion.
The MIL and PGM-FI lights turn on briefly after starting, but I don't hear beeping. Is the beeping after startup supposed to be from the side mount remote control or a different beeper? I don't know why they would have a separate beeper. Since the beeper works, I am mystified why I don't hear it when starting.
What would you suggest I do? Check for codes? Will any codes from the MIL on and beeping be stored, even though the MIL doesn't stay on after I restart? I have a DR H dongle and a CD with the software somewhere. I don't have a laptop so using DR H would be a bit of work (if the software will work), but not impossible. I am off grid on a remote island in Washington San Juan's--which just adds a bit of work.
