Anyone here familiar with the operation of the Crusader synchronizer. I am following the owners manual precisely but can't get it to engage. Is there some kind of trick to it ??

"Richie, I'm trusting you

"Richie, I'm trusting you are referring to the new Sync-N-Cruise system included with the new electronic throttle body engines. If it does not engage properly and you are doing everything as explained in the manual, call Crusader.

Has it ever worked?

We have had a few instances of data link harnesses which were pinned wrong by the vendor. If neither the boat manufacturer nor the dealer tested the system thoroughly, they would never have realized it was wrong and this could be your problem.

I am assuming your dealer did not go over the operation of all of the features in your new boat and therefore did not demonstrate this feature. He either didn't know how it worked or couldn't get it to work either.

It is a really simple feature to operate, I doubt you are doing anything wrong."

Yes I am.

Yes it has.

He got it to work when he delivered the boat to me and then said goodbye. Here's what is strange. If I follow the owners manual it won't work. If I follow my dealers method, it works but when I cancel it and run in manual, the throttles are split by 3". They stay that way until I go WOT and then return to idle. Go figure. Thanks for your response. By the way, I don't have any communication with the dealer due to his incompetence and lack of support. I'm sort of Hi and Dry now.

"Rich,

What brand of boat do you have and where are you located. When you disengage the system, it goes back to manual mode. There is no reason the throttles should be any different than they were prior to engaging the system.

It sounds like a control issue. Whose controls are in the boat and has the dealer played with them at all?"

"It's a Silverton. Wilming

"It's a Silverton. Wilmington, N.C.

>>Whose controls are in the boat <<
Not sure what you mean. No, the dealer has not touched the controls.

The owners manual says "in order to engage the sync, both throttles must be at idle and both shift levers must be in neutral." It won't engage if I place the shift levers in neutral, only if I leave them in forward gear and then place the sync. switch on."

"You have Teleflex controls, u

"You have Teleflex controls, unless you have the new 33C or 33 SC. I know Crusader tells you to engage the sync while in the neutral position, but I don't know why. I have never actually tried to engage the system from neutral.

Your controls are fine (compatible) but I would still call Crusader and explain what is happening.

They have several dealers within a reasonable distance of you which will be able to take care of your problem.

If you can't get a hold of anyone at Crusader right away, call Larry in Silverton customer service, you will find him very helpful.

Good luck

"Rick,
It's a new 35 MY.

My dealer said the same thing, he's convinced the Crusader manual is incorrect.

Thanks for the info Rick.

"Rick,
Went out today and tried to get the sync to work by engaging it with the transmission levers in gear. Tried several times and no luck at all. However, it messed up the throttles now even with it turned off. The port one is ok but the starboard rpm doesn't advance at all untill a good 3 inches beyond the port one, and this is with the sync turned completely off. How can this be ?

Richie"

"Rich,

Look at the throttle

"Rich,

Look at the throttle cables, both at the throttle bodies and at the control, it sounds like you have a loose bracket or linkage."
