I need a crank for 1977 70hp evinrude that is obsolete
anyone heard of welding a journal and turning it down to factory specs like a car engine??

Fact for you----Welding a precision crankshaft will bend it.----And the surface for the rollers must be hardened.-----Should not be hard to find that crank used as it was used up untill 1988 on the 3 cylinder 60 / 70 hp.

Actually that crank was used from 72-82 years (casting#317160) and you can get a remanufactured if you cant find used...

Keep an eye on craigslist for a parts motor? There should be a variety of years and HP for that particular powerhead. 1975-1978 70 and 75hp johnson/evinrude
