I bought a Mercury 9.8 110 outboard for my 14' aluminum boat, I recently found out that they can be converted to 15hp? Its a 1976 model. Is this possible for that year of motor? What parts are needed and how much are the parts? Thanks

No, the 1976 9.8 (model 110) was a unique model. It used it's own 9.8 cubic inch powerhead that was not shared with any other model.

In 1986 the 9.8's became the 9.9's (totally redesigned) with a 12.8 cubic inch powerhead that was shared with the 8 and 6 horse models (which can be converted back and forth).

In 1988 Merc first produced it's 15 horse with a 16 cube powerhead (unique - not shared).

In mid 1994 they started building the 9.9 with the 15 horse powerhead, leaving the 6/8 with the 12.6 cube block.
