Mercury 45 hp outboard runs good for about 5- 10 minutes then shuts off as if you turned the key off.
Any help.

Will it restart immediately after shut down or does it have to cool off?

It has to cool down about 5 to 10 minutes. But motor does not seem to be hot.

Sound like stator shutting down. Check rectifier as if bad can cause it to overheat.

rectifier today checked good . The motor started and ran for about 1 hour than shut down again. Waited 10 minutes the motor ran for 2 hours and never shut down. Will try again tomorrow and see what happens.
