Electric start from the 80’s The motor had been doing fine. For some reason on trying to start it yesterday it would start for a few seconds and choke and spit a bit of oily gas in the water around it. I then held the choke open and it starts and runs fine. This is why I’m thinking a choke adjustment may help. I’m just not sure which screw to turn ☺️ thanks for any help!

Sorry----I still do do not know what choke set up you have.----They are not all the same.----Model # or pictures of your choke must be posted.

Early 1980s have a solenoid operated flap type choke in the carb. There is no adjustment screw. Make sure that when the solenoid is energised the flap closes fully and that when not energised the choke is fully open.

From 1984 they have an electrically operated primer pump. (Make sure the red lever is in the correct position for automatic operation.)

Which type do you have?

I appreciate both of you trying to help! I’m home now and the pontoon is at the lake. I’ll check back in next week after I look at the motor. Luckily we did get to go for a ride, kind of had to gun it in reverse and it kept going when put in forward!! So we went!
Thank you 😊
