I'm a new owner of a 1995 Crusader 5.7 L engine. I want to change the oil and filter before winter. On my previous boat I used a vacuum pump down the dipstick tube. On this new boat the dipstick tube is much longer and and not straight, it curves forward toward the front of the engine. This will make it nuch more difficult to insert the vacuum pump tube all the down into the oil pan. I did notice that the open end of the dipstick tube (where you insert the dipstick) appears to be male threaded for a standard garden hose. Can I adapt my vacuum pump to have a female garden hose thread, attach it to the end of the dipstick tube, and suck the oil out this way?
Also the label on the engine says to use 40 wt. oil. Is that what I should use, or the more "modern" 15-40 wt?
