Can timing skip?

J175GLSTA I’ve replaced my complete electrical system searching for weak holeshot problems & changed everything one piece at a time based on advice from local mechanics & still wasn’t fixed. I installed a used vro yesterday which cured the cutting out or surging whichever you want to call it. It’s still sluggish on holeshot & top end by about 1000 rpm. When I had the flywheel off to replace stator could I have somehow gotten the timing off?

Not on this model.....flywheel only bolts on one way, optical eye is on cover and timing wheel has no torque so it cannot sheer its key. You have a dragging cylinder. Either one cylinder is down on compression, no spark or piston problem

Have you posted the actual compression test values ?-----Why all the new parts and guess work?-----Carburetor bowls checked for warpage ?----All the high speed jets in place and the correct size ?

Carbs were rebuilt awhile back & said compression was perfect. I’m going to borrow a spark tester & compression gauge next week from a buddy to check it. I remembered when I first put pack &coils on I ran 5450 rpm. Thought I was having spark issue with it cutting out so I put other coils back on to try. I ended up replacing the vro with a used one that was known to work which cured the cutting out. Iit must have been sucking air where the two halves go together because it didn’t fit together as tight as the used one I replaced it with does. I put new coils on today since I already have them to try to see if it’s any better. Will test compression asap if it new coils don’t help.

I got a check engine alarm twice tonight & bulb sucked flat after plowing & trying to get on plane so I’m taking the fuel pickup assembly’s out of tomorrow to see what’s up.

Weird thing today. I removed the fuel hose from the anti siphon valve to be able to remove the fuel pick up tube assembly When i noticed after i had removed the fuel line that the ball was still rock hard & absolutely would not squeeze the least bit. I ended up removing it from the filter on the motor & after squeezing pretty hard it finally shot fuel out of it & what looked like a big clot of oil. Was this a check valve in the bulb sticking or could something else have cause it to happen?
