I have an Evinrude 90, maybe a year old (I can find out exact year and model if needed) on my Boston Whaler Montauk, and I love everything about it except the location of the key. It's in the standard position below the throttle, which on our boat means we keep bumping into it, and it finally just broke.
I was thinking about moving it lower, but better yet I'd like to move it inside the console. I know that's possible since a mechanic who worked on it had a rig he used to bypass the entire key assembly. He disconnected the harness inside the console and then added his rig.
I don't imagine anyone has any tips on doing that? What part would be required, etc?
Thanks for any help.
