BF90 reverse issue

i have a 05 bf90 that is really hard to put into reverse. cables are not the issue, it is hard to put into gear by hand at the shift lever. Lower unit oil was checked. Oil was clean with no water, and no metal on drain plug magnet. Slips right into forward, and has no problem going into neutral from either reverse or forward. The issue is just going from neutral to reverse. It is hard with motor idling at 750 rpms, and its hard when the motor is off. I can get it into reverse but takes force to avoid the grinding sound, just one loud clunk when you put it in gear. Any guidance would be much appreciated. motor is very clean and runs like a top

Remove the gearcase and see if it shifts easily on the gear case itself, if it does you will have to remove the power head and see what's going on in the mount case.

Hi friend, I have the same problem and I have already disconnected the cables and put the car in reverse with my hand directly on the lever on the engine and the car goes into reverse no matter how much force I apply. Did you manage to solve your situation?
