BF50 still having a peeing problem

Everything is finally running nice, we were peeing when we had muffs on it yesterday. We went out for a test run today and it was peeing when we started but stopped probably 5-10 minutes into our run. I could see it dripping occasionally and sometimes not at all as we cruised back. When I got home popped the cowl off removed the hose from the outlet, blew into it for about 3 seconds, put the muffs on and fired it up and she’s peeing again… I guess my concern is if there’s a big enough piece of trash in there that it won’t come out what do I do?

Muffs!....bahfahngoo!

Put the leg in a trashcan full of water.....
.....pull the pee hose fitting out of the engine....
.....fire it up and see if the pump will spit out whatever is in there....
....it usually will.

So muffs are a no go for this? Also, any tips/tricks for getting that nipple fitting off? Thank you ahead of time for helping me get this thing running.

I've never done a 50 so I don't know what access is like for that fitting. Might have to take off covers or do some contortions to get in there. But it's just a 1/4" pipe thread that you can unscrew, start the motor and clear the passage, then screw back in. See item 9 in the link.

You NEED to take care not to round it off. It's likely soft brass. So use a six point socket or a QUALITY box end wrench to loosen it at first. No Crescent or open end wrench until loosened.

Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and replace the tube too. If that tube isn't very soft and supple or, is routed improperly, it WILL catch small debris and enhance the possibility of continued clogging.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info, got it off and ran in a trashcan for 15-20 with a solid flow coming out the whole time. Saw on another board that Honda started making the hole on the fitting bigger somewhere around 2004. Would it be ok to switch mine to that (pn 19312-ZW4-H00) and the larger hose that would be for this fitting, then route the hose through where the current p-hole is for a better stream?

Yes! I see no reason not to "upsize" and update. It's just a bypass channel and doesn't take much at all away from main cooling flow.
It might still clog once in awhile but it should be much less often.

Good luck.
