BF225 Trim Switch

The "UP" trim switch on both my engines stopped working on 2003 BF225s. Trim down works on both.
The trim switches on the throttles work fine, both up and down.

Just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem with a known solution before I start digging and buying parts.
Thanks

Check all your wiring first. Get to the 2-prong plug on the wire coming from the T/T motor. It's a pain to get to. If I recall correctly, you need to remove the left side upper cowling. Then run leads from a fully charged 12V battery to the light green and light blue leads to the motor and make sure the motor goes up and down as you reverse the contacts. If so, the problem is further upstream. If not, check the wires at the plug and right where they go into the motor housing.

Next go to the T/T relay. It's another bugger to get to. It sits right on front of the engine behind the bracket where the connectors and the red service connector is located. You also need to remove, or at least un-bolt and set aside the PGM FI main relay. Check the connections to BOTH the PGM-FI relay and the T/T relay and clean as needed. If all that checks out, the is a rather complex testing procedure. If you have access to the Helm shop manual, start on page 17-8.

Alternatively, you can access a PDF of the manual in the link below...
