BF225 - Discovered Water Leak (Mount Case?)

Good evening my fellow boaters. Last night as I was bringing the boat across I just happen to look back and see water coming out of the engine cover. It was not a drip, rather a flow of water. This morning I took the lower covers off to see what was happening. I can't tell where it is coming from, was hoping someone could chime in.

The water leak appears to be coming from forward of the vapor separator assembly. From drawings, the only item I see is the mount case and the water inlet for cooling. I was hoping for a tube, but cannot identity one. I have had no alarms, no overheat/high temp alarms, water is cool to the touch so assumed it is raw water being pumped up from vertical riser. My tell-tale (pee stream) is still pretty strong, so I assume I am getting enough water to cool the engine.

I posted the video on You Tube. Since the boat is in the water and at the dock, it's the closest I can get to inspecting.

Thanks for your input.

CHawk 25,
Thanks for the reply. Do you know the configuration of the water tube (riser) to Part #8? Just curios as how it attaches/inserts to allow flow into both intakes. Most be some kind of seal with tee casted in? Just curios. Thanks. Looks like another fun day of removing components to get to the actual problem :) !! Thanks again. Have a good weekend!

I might have exactly the same problem early this year. Happened to both of my BF225. Check #13 and #14 in the following diagram, the VST cooling pipe (13) goes from mounting base to the VST and then returns to the pee hole (14). #13 pipe on my starboard motor developed a pin hole right behind the hose clamp (#23) connecting onto the VST. Had to replace the pipe.

on my port motor, somehow the hose clamp between pipe #13 and mounting base rusted through completely, check the following diagram where the E-18-10 locates.

in both cases, I needed to removed the port-side, upper cowling to find where the leak was, and then remove the whole air box to get to the hose behind the VST. It's was not a fun job.

TDL makes a very good point on those cooling tubes to the VST. They are attached with those spring clamps which don't put much pressure on the hose where it seals to the nipple. That's a good first place to look.

As far as part #8 goes, I've never really dug into that, so I really don't know how it connects on the end. The other end is another pressure clamp.

TDL was correct. There is a male tube fitting coming out of the block at E-18-10 on the following link. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Honda/Outboard Engine/2004/BF225A4 XCA/MOUNT CASE/parts.html

The hose goes from the block to the port side of the Vaper Separator assembly. I'm pretty sure it was Item #14 on the below link for "piping".

There was no pipe clamp to be found, guessing the shop left it off when replaced power head. I stole a stainless clamp from an easy to replace location on the exhaust manifold then replaced that one with steel clamp from Auto-zone Good to go until I can get some items ordered a long with some SS clamps.

Flushed the engine and no more water leak, took about 4 hours. Thanks TDL and C-Hawk appreciated.
