BF130a prop shaft holder

I have purchased a replacement prop shaft holder for my bf130a that is a Honda genuine part and there is a critical difference in the part. The old one has a female threaded cup that screwed into the foot on the forward/bow facing side of the shaft, the new one has no threads in that cupped area nor anywhere for that matter. Is this a replacement part for an obsolete part and the threads are no longer needed, did I get the wrong year? I know 115's and 130's share most parts in most years.
I bought for a 2004 130hp.
The Honda guy in St. Thomas told me my serial numbers; BZBE 1301062 or BEBE 1017117 meant that I had 2004 engines. I am in the British Virgins Islands so I am on my own here and having to order parts from Boats.net and hope they are correct.

Can you post a picture of the part? Or Part number?

I am on the road and do not have access to my computer for references.

I will check on your serial # etc later tonight if I can.

I just do no remember a threaded part of the prop shaft holder.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate any help.

Sorry, first one was the wrong side. Old with threads on left, new with no thread on right...just in case it wasn't obvious.

First of all....the serial number that you gave comes up as a 2002. BF130A2 Model. It is also indicating that it is a standard rotation engine. Although, over time, someone may have changed the lower units.

Now for the threaded piece....

The right hand rotation engine does not have a threaded piece on the prop shaft holder. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/H...2 XA/PROPELLER SHAFT (1) PROPELLER/parts.html

The left hand rotation engine does have a threaded piece. part #10 http://www.boats.net/parts/search/H...02/BF130A2 XCA/PROPELLER SHAFT (2)/parts.html

The links are both for an extra long (25") shaft. I do not know which you have. I do not think it is different between the shaft lengths. If in doubt...here is the link to the model selection page.....http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Honda/Outboard Engine/2002/parts.html

So, it sounds like the part you have is for a standard rotation motor (starboard motor).

Hope that solves that part of the puzzle.

One last thing. The 2002 standard rotation model had a running change and the holder changed midyear. So check very closely on the parts list and verify the serial number application when you look at the actual part number.

If you are using later than the 2002 lower units, then you will need the newer of the two.

It looks like the prop shaft holder for the counter rotation (the one with the threads) is the same for all the years of the 130.

Our post crossed, as I was writing.

You do have the late model holder for the standard rotation.

You just need to order the one for counter rotation. I assume you also will need the bearings and associated seals, etc.

Thanks for the help and direction.
I've already purchased all the bearings and seals knowing they would be needed along with the new shafts.
It's tough being 2,500 miles away from civilization, thanks again.
