Bf 15 coil interchanging with different HP Honda coils

I'm new to your forum and have what may be a stupid question, but here it is. I just bought a BF 15 and on a new start after two or three days . I can pull the ground or positive wire off the coil after turning it over a few times and when I put either back on it will give a small pop like fire jumping or something reset internally and then it will fire up before you can get your fingers off of the stop button. I assuming that it is the coils going out. I would like verify that and ask if the coils off of the 30 and on up that look exactly the same but not sure if out put on is the same . I have a friend that has several of them . Would they have different outputs or be safe to use on a BF15. sorry for being long winded wanted to not leave anything out thanks in advance

Sorry for the bad spelling and grammar I didn't have my contacts in. Once I saw it I tried to edit and it said I had 5 minutes and that's it.

Thank you for your response. I cannot find specs on them as far as the output on them. I was thinking that a 12 volt coil is a 12 volt coil. was wondering if they have different outputs. I do appreciate your time.

Misunderstanding? What I meant to say was look up on Honda’s parts page the part number of the coil for your 15hp, then look up the coil part number on the 30hp that your friend has. If the part numbers match then you’re good to go.

BF15 has one coil to run 2 cylinders..30 has one coil per cylinder, so no, they are not interchangeable. I don't get why you want a new coil

Is there something else that would cause me to have to pull the coil wire of and put it back on to get it to spark? If I stop on TDC when I put the withe wire back on it will fire as soon as the it touches and blow a puff of smoke out . I'm mechanical inclined I work on golf carts and utvs and such but I know nothing about these out boards . Any help would would be appreciated. It runs outstanding once you do that. It's not often but sometimes it will do it on the water when I stop to fish.
