BF 130 IAC Valve

Mike, You previously mentioned cleaning the IAC valve: the screen is cleaned how? It doesn't seem possible to remove the screen and blow out gunk from the inside of the screen, but blowing gunk in past the screen into the valve seems to defeat the purpose of the screen. Do you use a type of electronic connection cleaner or something like brake-parts cleaner? Does the IAC valve work like a piston which might benefit from light lubrication inside the valve opening? Sure appreciate your comments on maintaining the IAC valve in good working order as it is very expensive to replace. Stan

Never tried to take out the screen, but the part is listed separately, so it must come out. I usually spray a very light solvent like brake clean, across the screen with the screen down, to minimize the spray that actually goes into the IAC.

Yes it is a little piston in there....more like a washer on a faucet, than a piston in the engine. You can operate it with a small 12v battery. I do not know if there is any lubrication for it. Never thought of it. Maybe others have tried some things.

In general, I have always found that the least amount of solvent etc used on the IAC the better.

I have one for testing in my drawer at work, I will try to remember to try to remove the screen. I will let you know of the outcome.

I tried, but could not get the screen off. I think to get it off, it might have to be destroyed. I did not spend a lot of time on it, since we were short handed today. If I get some time, I will try using a heatgun to help break it loose.

What in the world am I going to do with those six IAC screens I bought??...............KIDDING!..:)
This is why I hang out here. Mike will make damn sure that we all know if those screens come off or not!
Thanks Mike!
