Have a 175 Blk MAX fuel inj, mid 90's that has been giving me fits with one of it's fuel injectors at lower speeds. Tried to unglog it with all kinds of stuff but the no wake zones kill me. On another note i took a run out to the lite tower and back [about 55 miles round trip] mtr; ran perfect at 4000 rpm, 30 mph. Docked boat went home came back monday at high tide put muffs on flushed mtr; 5 min; went home. Came back 2 weeks later trimed mtr down turned key to ON position and intermitent horn goes off beep beep---- [like oil was low] never started mtr;. Checked every thing i could think of, including the fuel wtr; sep that is in the mtr; Tried to disconnect this horn from the mtr; by pulling every wire connection i could find but no luck. Took the controllor apart and ripped the horn OUT, fired up the mtr; and have been fishin 3 times since with no problem, probably ran over 200 miles. The only thing i can figure is that the outside ambient temp was way up about 95 degrees that week and with merc; black top could the HEAT have dammaged the computer giving a bad signal? i checked the horn with a meter and it was good. Any thoughts, any- body have this happen to them. Thanks for read. Dave.

Only way to clean it is to remove them and send off for flow and balancing. Additives and cleaners just keep a working system clean. I doubt the outside heat caused this as heads would need to get over 200 degrees. You may have a oil warning module going/went bad.

Thanks Faztbullet for the imput. i'll pull her out and get er done. It is a shame i have a 200 Blk Max laying on my garage floor with a blown head, i keep it for parts but it's carbed, if i had the skill id like to rip out the F\I and install the carbs they never gave me no trouble and got 2 GPH better fuel milage. The only parts i used off that mtr; so far was the prop and the trim tab. Thanks again F\B.
