Backwards battery hookup

Battery was hooked up backwards and now everytime I turn the ignition to start the 25 amp main power fuse blows on my 2009 Mercury 60 hp four stroke outboard. Any help would be appreciated.

Disconnect the rectifier and retest.

I disconnected both plugs to the rectifier and turned the ignition to start it and blew the new fuse again. I did not disconnect the black lead from the rectifier to the mounting bolt (ground).
