I was just outside and hooked the garden hose to my boat and started it. The boat ran fine in neutral for 20 min. I raised RPM up for awhile and still the engine stayed about 170 to 180. I then engaged the gear and it ran hot right away,shot up to 220 and going. I checked the raw water connector and it does not look bad. I checked the timing and its 6% btdc at 900 rpm,what it calls for. engine starts up instantly . I unscrewed the cap on the reservoir where the cone shaped screen is and very little water was in it. When it was in neutral it was full and over flowing at any RPM and not running hot. Any help on this would be appreciated .
