Where did you dig up that dinosaur? I can't remember the last time I saw a support tube cable. Back when I saw one 15+ years ago we knew to just cut them and replace them with a new style cable.
 
Exactly , you and gosht, wanted to make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. So next time please hold your mouth before telling me what I need to learn. This 1980's model sea Ray has been garage keeped , cleaner than most 2000 model's, boat came from WI.
There is no way of getting inner cable out aft. without cutting cable. I love talking about how things are fixed. And I try my best to explain what I know.

Kro. It's about pulling inner cable with support tube fool. The book says ✂.
Please tell me how you get inner cable out aft. With crimped support tube. Bet you can't

I fixed, removed many things others said could not be done.

Offer advice when that advice is accuratE and most of all needed.

you can rest at night knowing I have read all the manuals up to 2002-2004.
Have them all.
 
Answer question. If you are such a great mechanic, tell me how many pivot gimble rings you've pulled without moving motor ? Simple Question
 
I have special wrench . that I heated and bent and ground down that will fit on inside of boat on top of steering shaft. Even if I cut out transom holes tap and use plugs . using a air chisel is crap. Even though new nut comes with slots for that way. Doesn't work for me.

Believe me you have a lot of years to catch up.

You just keep doing ya'lls mechanics and I am sure it will all be ok...
 
Why, you are breaking loose outter transom seal , correct? Why would you do that for gimble ring pivot pin ?
If you break seal on transom outter plate. That's big time

We no longer repair these. We replace them.

IMO, If you don't know how a system works or have experience with the actual posted issue, keep your inexperienced opinion to yourself. Most who post their issues on here will not follow a diagnostic procedure to correct their issue. They will look for the quick fix or easiest path and never get the problem resolved. There is not always a simple fix.



A lot of us on this page who help boat owners, are/were successful paid professionals in the Marine Repair field. Some are not and still have valuable advise.

Then there are the ones who give bad advise, I will call those out.

Was this not bragging? I guess because you did a review of a winterizing kit that is it! The absolute truth and that's that! We should be so fortunate!
