#1 Shift shaft bushings and seals in bellhousing. Merc manual #14 says to loctite the bushings, then a few pages later says to apply lubricant 101 to od of bushingand install. Which one ?

#2 Adhesive on bellhousing end of drive bellows or just the transom end. Read both ways. Merc manual shows adhesive at transom and none at bellhousing.

# Exhaust bellows. Boat has thru hull with block.off plate in transom and a bellows installed from the factory. Merc manual says not to use a bellows with thru hull. So, bellows, tube or nothing.

Thanks !

Just a few more questions, I promise,
#4 Gasket surface on bellhousing (to outdrive) paint flakeing off. Light wire brush by hand removed 99% of paint. Should I tape off and spray light coat of zinc primer then paint, or coat the whole surface with perfect seal. Or both ? Thanks !

Id suggest to tape off, prime, and paint. It also wouldn’t hurt to coat both sides of the new drive gasket with 2-4-C. It will make taking it off a lot easier the next time you remove your drive. It will also preserve the nice new paint job. Try to use quicksilver light grey/gray primer and quicksilver phantom black.

Ok, replacing impeller and carrier seal and the cavity under the bottom impeller plate around the carrier is lightly corroded and no paint left. Should I paint that area too or leave it alone. Thanks !

Almost done, installing impeller and housing kit #817275q05 and i quess this is a newer version than mine. The "gasket" that goes under the bottom plate is now a steel shim type. Is the shim installed dry or should i use perfect seal on it ? Thanks

As to paint, does this boat sit in the water all the time or does it live on a trailer? If it's always in the water, your paint protocol is very different than if it isn't.
