I have a 97 model honda bf30 4 stroke motor that makes a ticking noise from under the fly wheel at low rpm and fades away as rpm increases....motor has had this ticking noise slowly increasing over the last 2 years roughly....doesn't appear to be causing any problems as yet
what do I need to do to check this out and fix it
I'm NOT a mechanic but am capable of minor repairs like new water pumps ect
cheers for any advice
Paul

Magnets in the flywheel are slowly separating from the flywheel and just touching the coils. Increased rpm creates sufficient centrifugal force to keep the magnets clear. This was a common issue on the earlier 20 through to 50hp.The only fix is a new flywheel.
