91 Evinrude 40HP ring gap

I am rebuilding my Evinrude. I had one cylinder bored .030 over and honed the other. I received my piston kit. I checked the ring gap yesterday. Evinrude spec is .007-.017. My ring gaps are .028 and .030 for the top piston. .020 and .021 for the bottom piston(.030 oversized piston). Should I get new rings that will put me in spec?

The new pistons should have came with rings....If they are the new ones with piston your spec' are wayyy off and new rings wont help

Both pistons came with rings. I’m taking the block to the machinist today. Unless the standard piston is smaller than what is specified, I’m getting the cylinder bored .030 over and ordering a new piston and ring.
