87" 48 spl, kill switch install

here in VA there's a new reg. that a kill switch has to be in use, my POS project boat needs one. Question ( think i know) is the kill circuit normally open or closed? open, right?
 
Open for run. Closed when the lanyard is pulled. It will ground out the ignition the same as the key switch does when turned to the off position.
 
It is open but is not installed in series with the blk/yell wire. One side is connected to blk/yell the other to blk, this dumps the capacitor charge to ground..
 
ok , think i got it , connect to blk/yel terminal on key switch and run another wire to black wire terminal on key switch, i know this wiring is important as not to short out power pack
