Hey guys, new to the Forum. Name is Kyle, Phoenix AZ.
I just acquired a 1986 Eliminator 21' that the previous owner gave up on trying to fix due to multiple hydraulic failures and parked it. Anyways, I started the engine for the first time and let it run for a min or two at idle and shut it down. Sounded good and mechanically sound so I moved on to fixing all of the trim/tilt and jack plate issues.
Went back to see the primer solenoid dumping fuel with the ignition on and the fuel pump running. OK, took it off and saw it was totally melted. No biggie, bought a brand new one....
Figured I would test the circuit before I put the new one in and found that it had a constant 6 volts with out pressing the key.. Damnit!! Its shorted....
Also note: Even pressing key in with ignition on, voltage did not change. Constant 6 volts at all times.
So I test the circuit at the key and it works fine at the terminals on the back of the key...
Anyone familiar with these engines?
