Here's a pic from a head in my garage..Trying to determine what which I have. The honda repair manual on p 4-37 describes a tic mark identifying a 7.5hp vs 10hp but the graphic is not real clear. This is near the cam pulley side. Thanks in advance for knowledgeable responses. This would be visible if one were doing a valve adjustment or otherwise had the valve cover off.

t very specific..

Hi,
No, that isn't the ID mark in your photo.

The mark on a 7.5 is a single punch mark located on the sprocket END of the camshaft and opposite the keyway.

The10hp has no mark.

I'll try to load a screenshot.

Good luck.

Another difference between the cams that is interesting and could be used for identification are the cam lobe heights.

All four lobes on a 10hp cam are listed as the same height. They start out new at 25.2mm for both intake and exhaust lobes.

The 7.5hp cam lobes are significantly different in height for intake vs. exhaust.
The intake lobes new are 26.5mm
While the exhaust lobes are listed at 23.2mm

Thanks for the info. Checked that location before my inquiry and no mark..

The cam lobe stuff is interesting and not something I found in any of my manuals..

Wish I thought about checking first on my latest engine project that I hope to be 10hp.. Was gonna redo the lash after a warm up run so will see if I goofed..
