60 deg V6 loopers 150/175 differences

I have a 1996 150 Oceanrunner (J150EXEDB).

Going through my carbs for the first time I found the carb body part numbers are from a '93/94 175hp and are jetted accordingly. My cylinder heads are also 175hp part numbers (0338311)

Parts diagrams indicate the crankshaft, pistons, intake manifold, powerpack, coils are the same between 150 and 175hp.

What appears to be different is the carb jetting. The cylinder heads are also a different part number.

Bigger carb jets and different heads, is that the major difference between 150 and 175 60 deg. loopers?

just curious

Not much. If you have the 175hp bore size and are installed with correct 175hp carbs and jets. There isn't anything else to worry about functionallity! However, if you put 175hp carbs on a 150hp block and intake bore, it won't work!

Thanks for the replies. I checked port height and it appears my 1996 150 Oceanrunner has a 175hp powerhead (port height 1.6"). The 150 port is 1.7". Unfortunately I bought a reman 150 powerhead based on the outboard data plate without realizing what was under the hood.

I'm stuck with the new reman so it appears I'll have to find a set of carbs and throttle bodies for a 150.

Or can I put the 175hp carbs/throttle bodies on my 150hp powerhead?

I see that throttle body 0436845/043846 was used on 150's from 1994-2006. Does that mean I can use any 150 carbs from '94-'06 on my 1996?
