I need to replace the upper eng. cover (cowling) rubber seal. I assume it's attached with a glue or cement. What type of cement have you guys successfully used for this? I was thinking something like 5200 or gorilla glue? TIA!

I'm away from my boat and shop manual, but I don't think it is glued. I think the seal fits into a lip of some sort.

If you do need to glue rubber to plastic, I would not use either of those that you mentioned.

The Honda cowling covers fit pretty tight on the seal. If you should find the need to glue the new seal in place, bellows adhesive is what I have used. I just glue it on the corners and a little on the sides.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried to remove the old one yet so wasn't sure if it was glued or not. Water has gotten inside the seal and rust is causing the rubber to split and open up on the exterior. It's still functional, but looks terrible. Thanks guys!!

Replaced both of mine few years back , no glue needed its made to slide on Grove. Mind wore out also was showing signs if rust. Lasted 10 yrs
