225 BF - Speedometer not working

I have a 2004 225 Honda. For about a year now, the analog speedo stopped working and I'm tired of looking at it. I believe it works by having the water run through a small hole on or near the lower unit and that debris is the culprit. Would someone be so kind as to point out which hole(s) is used and how best to remove any debris that is clogging it?

Hello
I have a 150HP; Hondadude & Chawk help me there is a small hole on the lower-unit which gets clogged so here is what I did: I disconnected the speed tube as if I was dropping the lower unit filled it with CLR let it sit a while the CLR started dripping out the lower unit than I took a compressor and blew air though the speed hose repeated this until everything was clear it took awhile but it is like new now. Salt and dirt is the problem but u can clean it out with perseverance.

The alternative is to cut the tube where it comes out of the engine. Plug the part of tube coming from the pitot hole in the engine, then install a universal pitot pick up on the bottom of your transom. They are about $23.00 from West Marine. I had the same problem and it kept getting clogged, so this was my solution. Works fine. It that gets clogged, try to clear it, but if not successful, just buy another one.

Hello I have a 150HP its a tiny hole on the leading edge in the middle of the lower unit u can miss it take your time you will find it a 14 or 16 solid wire will help you open it up and if you have a air-compressor with a blow-off tool rubber tip this will help clear the channel or tube that helps runs the speedometer.
