2023 mercury 60 not running

I have a 2023 mercury 60hp 4 stroke fuel injected. It has always ran fine. Took it out and it ran across the lake fine and then sputtered and shut off. I started it back up gave it some throttle and it shut off. Did that several times before it got to the point it wouldn’t start up again. Got home and a few days later with muffs on it I started it and it idled fine for several minutes, I gave it a little throttle and ran fine. After a while it started sputtering and shut off and began doing the same thing to the point it wouldn’t start again. Any ideas what it could be or where to begin looking?

Take a fuel sample ...could be water

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

Can you pump the primer ball up so that it is firm?

If you pump the primer ball continuously does the problem get better or stay the same?
