hello
i bought a new motor for my 24' pontoon. it has a 15x15 prop and i normally have 5-7 people and a cooler and stuff, the engine will only turn about 5100-5200 rpm's. my old BF90 turned about 6200. This one just seem it needs a smaller prop. like a 13" pitch. anyone have any input.

thanks for your help

What size prop on the 90?

If you have a marine repair shop nearby, ask them if they have some spare props laying around that will fit a Honda that you could borrow- many do. And experiment with them to get the 6000 +/- rpm's you need.

I assume that a dealer installed the motor. It that is correct, go back to the selling dealer and discuss with them. Assuming that the tubes are clean, you probably will need a smaller pitch prop. They should have water tested accordingly.

Here is a link to Honda performance tests. Select your motor and pontoon and there are a couple of examples of pontoons smaller and larger than yours.
