Hello, I have a 2012 Bayliner 170 with a Mercury 115 Fourstroke (serial #1B905627. about 160 hrs), that recently started giving me the 6 beeps warning. Decided to get Vesselview, which is showing fault code 1051-6, Camshaft synchronization.
Description is "Engine crankshaft or camshaft encoder is not working properly, service engine soon". Usually happens about 5 minutes after startup, almost every run but sometimes not. Engine seems to still run totally fine, though maybe(?) slightly rougher once the fault occurs.
Is there a common cause for this? Encoder going bad?
