2009 90hp problems

The engine starts and runs great for a few minutes then slowly loses power and starts to run rough. If you shut the engine off and restart it, it runs fine for a few minutes, then it will do it again. No codes, fuels system cleaned and new plugs. New low pressure fuel pump. 2009 90hp 4 stroke fuel injected VTEC.

Hi,
I can't believe no one has answered you yet. I thought we had many 90 hp owners here.
I don't have any experience with this outboard so just tossing out some ideas. More for moral support than anything.
I'm assuming that when you say fuel system has been cleared you mean that VST was drained, opened up and "scrubbed"?
Did you check the condition of the "isolator" boot (item 29 in link) that the fuel pump fits into? Those have been known to cause problems and
a re-design was done on many of them. Before that, people were trimming the tips down to prevent them punching up and blocking the fuel passage in the housing. I would just buy the new, improved one if you see a problem with yours.

Besides that, the float valve sticking or the IAC or throttle body being dirty come to mind.

Also, the injectors have screens that can get plugged.

Sorry, wish I knew more but that's all I can think of.

Good luck.

Sounds like a fuel starvation problem, in passion to above suggestions, are the external fuel lines, bulb, fuel tank pickup, water separator, any filters, or connectors working properly?

NSDON makes a great point. What he said + have you checked your fuel tank vent? It could be something as simple as that.

I have a 2006 four stroke 90 Honda. I mistakenly bumped the (I think) secondary low pressure hose off . It is located basically under or close to the oil filter. It is about 8 inches long. Filter is on one end and there is a threeway hookup close to the opposite end. Can’t figure out how is was hooked up? ESP the end with the fuel filter ? Any help please?
