2007 Honda BF90 control steady beep, how to clear

Found an old post from 2015 that clearly described how to use a paper clip to short 2 pins in the red diagnostic connector, then pull and push the emergency shutoff button 5 times within 20 seconds to clear codes. This did not work for me, no beeps at end of sequence and a steady beep coming from shifter control box after engine start. This is an old crab boat so nothing fancy, just oil and temp lights right below shifter; no tach; no gauges, nothing. Beep is coming directly from shifter control box. Any ideas on troubleshooting code or resetting greatly appreciated. Motor has just been completely serviced and running fine just can’t get beep to stop

If it doesn't actually have a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), it may not actually be throwing a code.

Just a guess as to what might be causing the beeping would be something possibly going on with the fuel/water separator.
See item 2 in the link:


If it hasn't been serviced/checked/drained or emptied in a while, you might want to do that.

I haven't worked on one of these so I can't tell you how that's properly done.

One other thing that could cause beeping might be a trim angle indicator if so equipped.

Just some ideas.

Ok thx for responding. Basically replaced everything from fuel tank to vst and high pressure pump, pulled fuel rail and drained cleaned. I will redrain fuel water separator at front of engine and try again. Will post results if you think of anything else I appreciate all responses
