I've got a 60hp 2007 efi four stroke starts, runs and idles fine nothing un normal seems fine until it's given more acceleration then just seems to be in a limp mode and won't fully accelerate. I've had no warning beeps. When in nutral revs go to 5000 fine. I did suck up some sand last week at shady I did clear the lines however the water flow is not as pressured out of the pee hole now as there is most likely sand sucked further into the cooling system. The impella is brand new aswell. Can this be the reason it's not getting throatal power? It's not getting any overheating beeps or no warnings. And does it have to be looked at the dealer to get it out of this mode?
If anyone can fix it cheaper then the dealer I'm happy to pay.

Unfortunately the (newer) computer driven, sensor fed models such as you have really need to be "plugged in" (DDT) to figure out what is wrong with them if it's something beyond a set of spark plugs or a water pump issue.

Any number of the sensors that the ECU (ECM - different terms used for the engine computer) NEEDS to keep your motor running could be bad and you can't just poke at them with a screwdriver and try and figure out whats wrong. In fact, with many, if you unhook them the computer will "pretend" its there and run a preset set of values it would expect to get from the sensor, so you can't simply unplug something to see if it's the problem.

When you bought an advanced EFI 4 stroke unfortunately you gave up the ability to do all but the most basic maintenance in your driveway or in the shade tree mechanics garage.

I would suspect that sucking up the sand may simply be coincidental to your other issue, but can't say for sure until the motor is "plugged in".

Graham is correct....even the really good experienced merc techs are now 'slaves' to the computer...and in a lot of cases the problem is shot by the merc support center with a remote hook up to the computer hooked up to your motor..and there is telephone time spent between the tech and the support center on a good problem..it gets expensive real fast in the new world and then you add in parts expense...you do have a problem you can see with the reduced water flow though...i would fix that before i did any thing else or took it into the shop for repairs..i am running a 2 year old 60 merc bigfoot and am babying it with maintenance etc to avoid the shop...the fact is we are locked into dealer service and the dealer is locked in because of computer software upgrades..which he pays for..i am retired so have time and i have spent a few hours talking to and observing good proven techs in two different shops...boating has gotten expensive when you have a breakdown...in your case though you probably still have blockage in the system..there is probably a sensor on that...

These motors are known for bad grounds on ignition plate and coils (TSB-2007-18) & (TSB 2009-26). Also weak fuel pressure from mechanical pump can starve VST
